Right of withdrawal
Last updated 12 August 2026If you are a consumer in the EU, you can cancel a paid subscription within 14 days of taking it out and get your money back. This page explains how that works and how to do it. It applies to the paid Premium subscription only. The free tier and the free trial cost nothing, so there is nothing to withdraw from.
Who you are contracting with
Polar is the merchant of record for pkfolio subscriptions. That means Polar is the seller, the contract for the subscription is between you and Polar, and the right of withdrawal is exercised against them. In practice you can tell either of us: if you write to me I will pass it on the same day, and the date your message arrives is the date that counts.
The 14 days
The period runs for 14 days from the day the subscription contract is concluded. You do not need a reason, and there is no penalty. To meet the deadline it is enough that you send your message before the 14 days are up.
If you start using Premium straight away
Premium unlocks the moment you subscribe, which means performance starts inside the withdrawal period at your express request. Two consequences follow, and both are normal under EU consumer law:
If you withdraw after using Premium for part of the period, you may be asked to pay a proportionate amount for what you actually used, calculated against the full price of the subscription.
Once the service has been fully performed, the right of withdrawal ends. For a monthly subscription that means the end of the month you paid for.
How to withdraw
Use the cancellation control in Polar's checkout or in your Polar receipt email, or
cancel the subscription from Settings in pkfolio, or
send an unambiguous statement to hello@pkfolio.com, by email or on paper. The form below is one way to word it, but any clear statement works.
Cancelling a subscription so it does not renew is not the same as withdrawing. Withdrawal within 14 days gets you a refund. Cancelling later stops the next payment and leaves you with access until the period you paid for runs out.
Your refund
You get your money back within 14 days of the withdrawal reaching us, using the same payment method you paid with, less any proportionate amount for use as described above. There is no fee for the refund itself.
Model withdrawal form
You are not obliged to use this, but it saves thinking about wording.
