Terms of service
Last updated 12 August 2026These terms are the agreement between you and the operator of pkfolio for the use of pkfolio. Using the service means accepting them. They are deliberately short, and nothing in them takes away rights that consumer law gives you.
What pkfolio is
pkfolio is a tool for cataloguing a Pokémon card collection: recording what you own, when you acquired it and what you paid, organising it into binders and lists, and following market prices for the cards in it.
It is a fan-made project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Nintendo, Creatures Inc., Game Freak, The Pokémon Company or The Pokémon Company International. All Pokémon names, card images and related trademarks belong to their owners.
Your account
You need to be at least 16 to hold an account. If you are under 18, get permission from whoever is responsible for you before paying for anything.
You sign in through Google or Discord. Keeping that account secure is on you, and anything done through your pkfolio account is treated as done by you.
One account per person. Do not impersonate anyone, and do not claim a username that suggests you are someone you are not.
Your collection stays yours
Everything you record on pkfolio belongs to you. You can export the whole acquisition ledger as a CSV from Settings whenever you like, and you can delete your account from the same place, which erases it immediately.
The only thing I do with your content is store it and show it back to you, plus display the parts you deliberately make public. Marking a binder public, or claiming a username, publishes that content at a public address until you unmark or delete it. Prices and collection value are never shown on a public page.
What is not allowed
pkfolio hosts a small amount of content you write: usernames, binder and list names, and notes on acquisitions. Usernames and public binder names are visible to others, so they come with limits. Do not publish anything that is:
illegal, or that promotes or facilitates something illegal
abusive, hateful, harassing, sexually explicit, or targeted at a specific person
impersonating another person, brand or organisation
someone else's private information
spam, advertising, or a link scheme
Do not attack the service either: no scraping the catalogue in bulk, no attempts to break rate limits, no probing for vulnerabilities without asking me first, and no reselling access to pkfolio.
How moderation works
Two mechanisms apply, and you are entitled to know how both work.
Automatic. When you claim a username it is checked against a list of reserved words and a list of banned substrings. A match is refused on the spot and you are asked to pick another. Nothing else you write is automatically screened, and no automated system suspends accounts.
Human. Anything else is reviewed by me, in response to a report or if I notice it. If I remove content or restrict an account I will tell you what was removed and why, unless the law prevents me.
To report content, or to challenge a decision about your own, email hello@pkfolio.com. Every complaint gets a human reply, normally within a few days. If you disagree with the outcome you keep every right you would otherwise have, including going to a court or to a consumer dispute body.
Free and paid
Tracking your collection is free: every set, unlimited cards, lists, binders and a public profile. A paid Premium tier adds market prices, portfolio value and collection analytics.
Payments are handled by Polar, which acts as merchant of record. That means your purchase contract for the subscription is with Polar, not with me, and Polar handles billing, tax and invoices. Your card details never reach pkfolio. You can cancel at any time, and your 14-day right of withdrawal is described in the withdrawal notice.
If a price changes you will hear about it before it applies to you, and you can cancel rather than accept it. Ending a paid subscription does not delete your collection: the paid features stop, everything you recorded stays, and the export stays available.
Prices are estimates, not advice
Market prices come from Cardmarket and TCGplayer via third-party sources, and card data comes from public catalogues. They can be wrong, stale or missing, and a card can be worth considerably more or less than pkfolio shows. Nothing in the app is financial or investment advice. Decisions about buying, selling or insuring cards are yours, and I am not liable for them.
Availability
pkfolio is run by one person. I aim to keep it up and correct, but I do not promise uninterrupted availability, and features can change or be withdrawn. If I ever discontinue the service I will give reasonable notice and enough time to export your collection.
Ending it
You can leave whenever you want: delete your account in Settings and everything goes immediately. I can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, that is being used to harm others or the service, or where the law requires it. Where the breach is fixable I will ask you to fix it before doing anything drastic.
Liability
pkfolio is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, I am not liable for indirect or consequential losses, for lost profits, or for loss of data beyond what a reasonable backup on your side would have prevented, which is what the CSV export is for.
Nothing here excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot legally be excluded. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected by any of this.
Law and disputes
These terms are governed by Portuguese law. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the EU, you keep the protection of the mandatory rules of your own country, and you can bring a claim in your local courts.
Before going to court, email me. Most things get sorted that way. Portuguese consumer arbitration centres are also available for consumer disputes, and using one is free or close to it.
Changes
If these terms change materially you will be told in the app or by email before the change applies, and the date at the top will move. Continuing to use pkfolio after that means accepting the new version. If you would rather not, delete your account.
